Crash Investigation
Investigators found the flight recorder intact Saturday in the charred wreckage of an airliner shuttling troops and set up an emergency center to fathom the cause of the crash that killed 81 of the 98 persons aboard. The troops were enroute from Fort Ord, Calif., to Fort Benning.
Judiciary
A citizens’ campaign to overhaul Georgia’s judicial system, including elimination of many small courts and appointment rather than election of judges, was launched here Saturday.
Gallup Poll
Despite continued criticism in certain quarters of the administration’s Viet Nam policies, little marked change has occurred in public support for the way President Johnson is dealing with the war, and for the way he is handling his overall job as chief executive. Fifty-four percent in the latest Gallup Poll say they approve of the way President Johnson is handling the Viet Nam situation.
