Liquor Charge

A Marion County commissioner and his son were two of more than 90 persons arrested Wednesday night in “Operation Dry Up,” the federal-state-local war on Georgia moonshiners. W. H. (Bill) Harbuck, 59, Tazewell, (Ga.), faces charges of possessing non-tax-paid whisky as does his 24-year-old son, Henry Harbuck, Americus.

Christmas

The Columbus Jaycees are discontinuing their annual project of putting up the downtown Christmas lights. In their letters, the Jaycees explained that the problem of collecting for the Christmas lights has become “increasingly more difficult.”

Business

Joe H. Henderson, cashier at the First National Bank of West Point, Ga., is the new president of the Chattahoochee Valley Conference of the National Association of Bank Auditors and Comptrollers.
