Georgia Democrats appear to be on the verge of panic following disclosure that Republican Congressman Howard (Bo) Callaway really is going to run for governor. The threat that Callaway will win was the chief topic of Democratic candidates for governor and lieutenant governor Monday night as they spoke at a meeting of the Fulton County Young Democratic Club.
Changes Name
Albert Francis Capone Jr. shucked his infamous father’s last name Monday, adopting just plain Albert Francis as his legal name. He claims that his father’s reputation as a Chicago gangster “pushes me into the glare of publicity for even minor violations of the law.”
Business
A multi-million dollar contract to supply pontoon bridges and steel structures to U.S. fighting forces in Viet Nam has brought a sizable portion of the deal to the Columbus Plant of the Pascoe Steel Corp. Of the $13 million contract for these facilities, the Columbus facility is producing about $3.8 million, according to facts revealed Monday by William T. Pascoe III, president and chairman.
