Chairman Richard B. Russell of the Senate Armed Services Committee has claimed sole authority for congressional peeking under the cloak of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). Russell cited the “rules and practices of the Senate” in politely but firmly rejecting the move to broaden congressional CIA watching in a letter to Sen. J. William Fulbright, D-Ark.

Vets’ Home

The Georgia State War Veterans home at Milledgeville is obsolete and must either be modernized or replaced, the director of the Georgia Department of Veterans Service said today. Pete Wheeler said he will ask the 1967 General Assembly to appropriate funds to modernize the structure or to construct a new building.

Child Bill

An ordinance designed to protect young children from injury and death resulting from being left unattended in automobiles was expected to be considered by City Commission today. Placed on first reading last Monday, the ordinance provides for a $250 fine or 90 days imprisonment or both for offenders.
