Klansmen Trial
Five of six Ku Klux Klansmen face a federal court trial June 27 on conspiracy charges in the death of Lemuel Penn, a Negro educator. Penn, a reserve Army officer, was returning to Washington after attending a training course at Fort Benning when he was killed about 23 miles northeast of Athens.
Head Start
An official of the Office of Economic Opportunity in Atlanta has indicated that approval of a summer Head Start project for preschool children in Columbus can be expected before the end of the month.
Entertainment
A real wonder of the rock and roll world, Stevie Wonder, will headline the big “Sock” rhythm and blues show coming to the Municipal Auditorium May 31. Once called “Little Stevie Wonder” because he had hit records going for him at the age of 12, this performer has been blind since birth.
