Political ‘Drafts’
Separate moves to draft 3rd District congressional candidate Jimmy Carter and Negro State Sen. Leroy Johnson as Democratic candidates for governor are under way, it was learned today. Neither Carter nor Johnson could be reached for comment.
Pay Increase
Muscogee County employees will get a pay raise, effective July 1. County commission today approved the raise, and also accepted a recommendation to call a $8.5 million bond issue referendum this year to finance long-range capital needs.
Medicare
The Medical Center Board of Commissioners Monday authorized an appraisal of all hospital assets in order to become eligible for full depreciation allowances under Medicare. The hospital stands to gain an estimated $30,000 a year in Medicare reimbursements with the full depreciation allowance.
