Brinkley to run for Congress?

State Rep. Jack Brinkley of Columbus today filed as a surprise candidate for the Third District Congressional seat and quickly denied speculation that he has information Sen. Jimmy Carter will get out of the race. Carter, who is being urged to run for governor, and Brinkley are close friends. The Columbus legislator said, however, “I have no information as to Jimmy’s plans.”

New Unit

A Pentagon spokesman Friday added a new dimension to the story that a second airmobile division may be formed and stationed at Fort Benning.

Brown-eyed, blonde Terry O’Neill, daughter of Col. and Mrs. R. J. O’Neill, 211 Lumpkin Rd., Columbus, Ga., has been chosen reigning queen of the University of Maryland.
