Only one-fourth of Georgia’s hospitals — and none of the major hospitals in Atlanta — are certified to participate in the Medicare program, federal officials have announced.

The Rev. C. W. Hancock, former minister of Epworth Methodist Church in Savannah, has been named superintendent of the Columbus District of the Methodist Church.

Dog Catcher

The Columbus dog catcher turned cowboy today — well, not exactly. Instead of corralling horses, the rope twirling policeman was after goats. Two goats — a nanny and her kid — were reported running loose near Cherokee Avenue and 13th Street.
