Bama Court Fight
One chapter in Alabama’s battle to keep federal welfare funds intact closed Thursday with notice that the state will challenge any cutoff in court.
A federal examiner last April contended that all federal welfare assistance for Alabama should be terminated because the state has failed to comply with non-discrimination provisions of the Civil Rights Act.

Astronauts John Young and Michael Collins will try to set a world altitude record of 431 miles in the flight of the Gemini 10 next month.
Cobb-Medicare
Cobb Memorial Hospital in Phenix City has been approved to handle Medicare patients beginning July 1.
Cobb is the only hospital in the area so approved.
