Drug Abuse

A preliminary survey probing the extent of Georgia’s drug abuse problem — including the use of LSD and “glue sniffing” — is being conducted by the State Health Department.

Education

Two new elementary schools and additions to eight other schools, to be constructed at an estimated cost of $1,684,000, were authorized today by the Muscogee County Board of Education.

GOP Primary

Muscogee Republicans today agreed to abide by the city attorney’s ruling and conduct a primary election Sept. 14, but may take the matter to court.

Republicans had asked if they would be required to hold a primary with “only two or three candidates offering for city offices.”
