Speck Arraignment
Authorities today deferred the arraignment of Richard Speck for the slayings of eight nurses. Doctors said he was in no condition to go to court. The derelict accused of performing the “crime of the century” still is recovering from wounds inflicted in a suicide attempt.
State SCV
Charles A. Moran of Atlanta was named commander of the Georgia Division of the Sons of the Confederate Veterans at the group’s state convention Sunday. Jack D. Howard of Columbus was chosen historian.
Business
A new department oriented toward military personnel will open today at the Buena Vista Road branch of The Columbus Bank and Trust Co.
