If directives demanding transportation of Negro students to previously all-white schools were handed out to the Taylor County School Board, they violated the 1964 Civil Rights Act, a federal attorney said in U.S. District Court here today.
Assault Case
Local police continued their hunt today for the driver of a white, late-model Mustang automobile wanted for the alleged criminal assault of a 16-year-old girl Thursday afternoon. The alleged victim was waiting at a bus stop when an unidentified male offered her a ride, according to police.
Maddox
Lester Maddox of Atlanta, in the Columbus area, promised a new highway for this part of the state “that will revolutionize agricultural and industrial development.”
