Ex-Presidents Ailing
Both of the United State’s living former presidents were hospital patients Saturday. Harry S. Truman, 80, was admitted to Research Hospital in Kansas City 24 hours after becoming ill with an upset stomach. Meanwhile, Dwight D. Eisenhower, 75, remained under observation for arthritis at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington.
Callaway Blasts Washington
U.S. Rep. Howard H. Callaway, R-Ga., told a group of students Saturday not to count on getting something for nothing from the federal government. “You get what you produce,” he told 400 young people attending the Governor’s Honors Program. “But if you don’t, the federal government will do it for you. The government will louse it up — it always has.”
