Stubbs Heads Unit

Hubert Stubbs, manager of the Columbus Municipal Auditorium, has been named president of the International Association of Auditorium Managers, it was announced today. Stubbs was elected at the 41st annual conference of the IAAM in Las Vegas, Nev.

Maddox

Candidate Lester Maddox told voters in southwest Georgia today that he is the only true segregationist in the race for governor. “I appreciate this label. I wear it with pride. Had I been Negro rather than white I would still be a segregationist.”

Law Day

Lt. Gov. Peter Zack Geer and Columbus City Commissioner Steve Knight will be among the guest speakers at Law Enforcement Day program Sunday at 3 p.m. at Valley Rescue Mission.
