Fire Chief Dies
Columbus Fire Chief Thomas Cosby Turner, 67, will be buried Monday afternoon in Riverdale Cemetery. Chief Turner, 1332 17th Ave., a fireman for nearly 47 years and chief since 1949, died Friday night at The Medical Center.
Religion
Dr. Robert Shumate, Columbus ophthalmologist, will appear on an Aug. 17 Georgia educational television program “Local Issue” which will explore the “God is Dead” theory, according to ETV officials.
Miss Phenix City
Five pretty girls will compete tonight at 8 for the title of Miss Phenix City of 1967. The unannounced finalists were chosen during Friday night’s competition at the Phenix City’s Palace Theater.
