Charles J. Whitman’s blood contained no discernible alcohol, barbiturates, drugs or stimulants when the University of Texas sniper’s murder rampage took 16 lives Aug. 1.

Mosquitoes

“Skeeter-slappers” waging nightly lone wars against whining, disease-laden mosquitoes now have a friend to aid them. The Muscogee County Health Dept. has intensified its campaign to destroy at least one species of mosquito, the Aedesaegypti.
