Teacher Shortage
Many Georgia school children will not have teachers when they return to classes this month and in early September to resume their studies, state School Supt. Jack Nix said Friday. The state lacks approximately 1,800 teachers having enough to staff the schools.

The Music Ministry of the Columbus Baptist Association will sponsor its fifth annual School of Music Monday through Friday at Eastern Heights Baptist Church.
Murder Arrest
A month-long search for a Negro man sought in connection with a California pistol slaying ended Friday on the streets of Richland, Ga. Investigators said a letter postmarked Richland put them on the track of Alison Daniel Yancie, a 29-year-old native of Miami, Fla., charged with the July 7 pistol slaying of a Negro man.
