Women Jurors

The Alabama Senate Tuesday passed a bill which would put women on Alabama juries for the first time in history, but provided that the people first vote on the issue.The measure, approved 21-3 was sent back to the House for concurrence.

No Beer for Minors

Reports that beer is being sold to minors has prompted the Meriwether County Grand Jury to call on local beer licensees to require absolute proof of age before making sales.

River Traffic

State Sen. Jimmy Carter said today that if he is elected governor this year he will push a move to open the Chattahoochee River to barge traffic all the way to Atlanta. “The mammoth West Point Dam gives hope of transforming the age-old dream into a reality,” Carter said.
