Shakedown Denied
A charge by a Chicago businessman that he was stopped at a roadblock by Peach County deputies asking money for the Georgia Sheriffs Boys Ranch has been denied by Sheriff Reg Mullis. Ray Newstat, a Chicago chemical engineer, complained of being detained with his wife and three children in a roadblock July 25 on U.S. 341.
Negro Candidates
The Rev. W. R. Walters’ bid for election to the House of Representatives from Muscogee County brings to five the number of Negro Republicans seeking Georgia legislative seats this year.
