Wallace Bill

Barring a major floor fight, Gov. George Wallace’s bill to wipe out all current compliance agreements by Alabama school systems with federal desegregation guidelines could clear one house of the legislature today.

Pickets

Picket lines continued to parade in front of the two plants of the Columbus Iron Works today while representatives of the United Steel Workers of America, AFL-CIO, and company executives failed to reach agreement of the strikers demands for wage increases.
