Lott Is PC Mayor

After placing Lee Lott in the mayor’s chair, Phenix City Commission today abolished the job of Recorder’s Court Clerk, which has been held by Robert Gullatt.

New Channel?

An application for a commercial television station on Channel 38 at Columbus has been filed with the Federal Communications Commission in Washington. If approved, it would give Columbus a third commercial television station.

Maddox

Lester G. Maddox, Democratic nominee for governor, said today he was appointing state Sen. Jimmy Carter, a defeated candidate, to head a committee on education. But Carter said he has not accepted the appointment.
