L-E missed great story
There was an event called "Back the Blue" Saturday 6/18 as a fundraiser for Harris County Deputy Jamie White who was shot in the head making a routine traffic stop on I-185. This event was also a show of appreciation for all the police, first responders, firefighters, etc, who put their lives on the line every day to protect us, the general public. It originated at the Harley Davidson dealer in Newnan and ended at the one in Columbus.
Southbound I-85 and I-185 were shut down for a 7-mile participation of a great turnout of 1,200 motorcycles and over 90 4-wheel trucks and classic cars. There were festivities including bands, food, raffle drawings, etc., enjoyed by over a thousand people at the Columbus location for several hours. Local TV stations covered the event and a great write up on Facebook by Sheriff Jolley, But not a single picture or word in the Columbus Ledger-Enquirer. Shame on you!

The real Trump
You have to vote for someone, and here's why I'm voting Trump. His detractors say he is not "presidential" and doesn't have the" temperament" to be president. Not having these qualities gets him two-handed claps from me.
Our last few "presidential" presidents have lulled us into accepting a never-ending Middle East war now 15 years on and counting. They were so endowed with the "temperament" we admire that they have made us so broke it will be decades to climb out of the hole (unless there is hyperinflation or repudiation of the debt)
He is referred to as being "racist, misogynist, a hater" by those who won't quote him verbatim. Nowhere does he say anything disparagingly, in general, about Mexicans, Muslims or women, nor has he said he hated anyone.
He did not say Mexicans were "rapists"; he said Mexico was sending its rapists.
How could you believe he dislikes women when he hires many in top positions and surrounds himself with some of the most beautiful women on the planet?
What he does is attack back the women who have dissed him, and when you do that to Trump, he may go "junkyard dog" on you in return..
We need a new kind of leader--one who has a chance of getting us out of endless wars and financial destruction. One with a strong personality, not beholden to Wall Street, the bankers or the power-brokers, but only to the American people.
I don't mind his abrasive style while on the attack, for I have seen his calmer, personal style in one-to one TV interviews and I like what I see. His message is "jobs and security." Spot on! I am willing to bet my vote that if anybody can get it done, it is Trump.

Wrong grievance
The Democrats in the House conducted a sit-in to protest the lack of a vote on the anti-gun "No Fly No Buy" bill. Our founding fathers designed a form of government that would prevent legislation that was an emotional, knee-jerk, response to a situation. The system is working as it was designed.
I want to discuss the problem of denying a person the constitutional right to purchase a firearm because they are on the "No Fly List." The essential principle is that a constitutional right cannot be taken away without due process. No one on the "No Fly List" is told why they are on the list or who put them on the list. We have a right to face our accusers.
Yes, there is redress to allow a person to go to court to challenge their name on the list. The cost would be prohibitive for common people and this establishes that you must sue to get your constitutional right and that you are guilty until proven innocent. The late Senator Ted Kennedy was somehow placed on the "No Fly List" and it took thousands of dollars and six months to change his status. What chance would a common American have?
There is also a chance that names could be put on the list as a political dirty trick. If you doubt , look at the way pro-Constitution groups were denied tax -exempt status for years because of a political move by an Obama -appointed official. It is sad that the Democratic response to a terrorist act is to disarm the American people and increase the number of Muslims we are paying to bring to the United States.
