Sound Off for October 8, 2016

Shop around

OK, you won’t buy in Columbus because property taxes aren’t frozen? Good luck finding another city/county where the property taxes are frozen. Oh yeah, try Florida, very high property taxes there.

Shoddy treatment

Domestic violence victims need counseling, not a fee, if they decide not to prosecute. The lawsuit against the city of Columbus was filed in October, which is also Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

Not encouraging

Talking about people's sex lives and criticizing Mexico is not a strong platform for a presidential candidate. The president directs the use of nuclear weapons. We don't need a tabloid president. We need a leader.

Visual evidence

It wasn't necessary to turn up the volume to listen to the debates — all you had to do was to watch the facial expressions to see who won.

Good riddance

Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore has been removed from the bench for defying the U.S. Supreme Court. Let's hope we hear no more from him.

Good principles

Thanks, Judge Moore, for refusing to obey a ridiculous, unconstitutional order that defies the will of the people, insults our culture, violates the laws of nature, and ignores common sense and basic biological facts.

Sour grapes

Trump continues to talk about Miss Universe because she probably didn’t sleep with him.
