Sound Off for August 22, 2017
Which was it?
Two front page articles appear on Friday about Confederate memorial issues, but buried on page 5 was evidence of a difference of opinion about the removal. Editorial discretion or not just enough room up front?
Easy publicity
What better way to get publicity when you’re running for office that to demand the removal of a Confederate monument? Give it a rest, Tonza.
In the know
Interesting how the Alternative Education Community Advisory Committee came up with virtually the same recommendations that teachers have been recommending for years. The MCSB and MCSD should listen to teachers, the best committee they have.
OK, tough guys
Our dear leader has suggested "outsourcing the fighting" in Afghanistan. Let’s fly the gun-carrying white supremacists to Kabul and we'll see how tough they really are. Maybe Trump can lead them riding a white horse.
American valor
We've always honored the brave men (and women) who fought and died fighting our wars. It just happens to be that "we" encompasses both sides when it's the Civil War.
Voice of reason
Thank you Mayor Tomlinson, for being a firm, level-headed beacon of reason and logic in the middle of a tidal wave of knee-jerk ridiculousness.

I’m not much of a morning news TV guy. I get most of my news from the Ledger. But now I turn on the TV to see who Trump has fired.
