Memorable man, experience

I'll never forget seeing Dick Gregory speak at Columbus College in the late 1970s. Left quite an impression. He was a good man. May he rest in peace.

If that’s what matters ...

Checking birth certificates, as Donald did to Obama, we find that Donald is the son of Fred Trump, wealthy slumlord arrested at a KKK rally in 1927. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.

Common sense, political courage

It was refreshing to see Mayor Tomlinson refusing to remove the monument, in contrast to the cowardly politicians who removed statues in the middle of the night or those who steal flags from cemeteries.

No simple solution

Confederate statues were very much an ugly vestige of the Jim Crow era and civil rights era; however, their eradication will be problematic since they were sanctioned by local, state and federal authorities.

Protecting and serving

Way to go CPD on your distracted driving stings. Those who got ticketed need to realize that the law on distracted driving is black and white. There is no gray area.
