Sound Off

Sound Off for October 3, 2017

No downside

Faith is such a beautiful thing. Even if I'm wrong to believe God exists, I still win.

Patriotic prose

Robert Simpson's column in the Sunday Opinion section ... well thought out and well written. Thank you, sir.

How, if not why

I don't know what makes someone decide to shoot over 450 people crammed like sardines at a concert, killing dozens. But I do know what it is that makes it so easy to do it.

Higher value

Americans have confused rights and respect. Rights always yield to respect. Respect for other persons and their property. Respect for the flag that assures those very rights. See Martin Luther King as an example.

Flexible ethics

This is like shooting fish in a barrel: Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump used a private email server for government business? "Lock them up! Lock them up! ...”

What’s her sin?

The teacher who talked in positive terms with children in her classroom about skin colors should be commended, not disciplined.

Above the law?

Roy Moore demonstrates that he does not support or defend the U.S. Constitution by defying court orders, and believes in a religious test to hold office. What do Alabama voters hold close? Another Civil War?
