Sound Off for June 3, 2016

Where the tragedy began

It's tragic that the Cincinnati Zoo had to shoot Harambe to protect the little boy's life. But what could they do? Don't blame the zoo. Blame the parents. They're the ones whose irresponsibility killed Harambe.

Lowest common denominator

Donald Trump seems to be bringing out the worst in us, and unless we read, and think for ourselves, we seem to be buying into what he says. America can do better than this!

Illumination

To the writer who saw it odd that God created light before creating the sun, I think the answer is that … God is light.

Newfound species

I knew there was much wildlife in the Chattahoochee. But I never realized until reading Wednesday's photo caption that there were clams in the water.

Speaking of species ...

My son wants to become a lizard. It’s a downright disgrace that he is not treated as normal.

Not helpful

Elected representatives like Myers and Thomas are either power hungry or truly believe they're looking after the taxpayer. Either way, it boils down to micromanagement, which is bad.

Diplomatic imperative

President Obama's trip to Hiroshima was an important gesture promoting peace in a nuclear era.
