Sound Off for July 17, 2016

Worse than just bad ‘art’

It wasn't just some drawing Isaiah Crowell posted. It was a photo of the beheading of American journalist James Foley by the terrorist Jihadi John, borrowed from ISIS, photoshopped, and now used in ISIS propaganda.

Pots and kettle

For those who think our President is “divisive”: Conservatives were shocked because a black man was elected twice as President and you all just never got over it. That’s divisive, period.

Role modeling

Tonza Thomas — what kind of message are you sending to young black males by your recent actions?

New Beatitudes?

Donald Trump and his wife don’t drink or smoke and he employs thousands of people all over the world. Why do the idiots say he is not a Christian? He is.

Uncalled for

Shame on L-E for running Chuck Williams’ column ridiculing a city employee.

Not doing their jobs

We are disgusted with the Republican Congress whose salary we pay. They enact no laws, take lengthy vacations and spend valuable time on endless investigations for political purposes. Vote them out.

Move forward by going back

A letter writer asked, "What other options can states offer for attracting new teachers?" They (along with local school districts) can start by simply restoring some of the things they recently took away from teachers.

Unfinished business

The job of FBI Director Comey was not to interpret the law, but to enforce it. There was enough evidence on Hillary to hand it over to a grand jury and then let justice play it out.

Same song, different verse

Phenix City Council is still being run by the good ole’ boys. Just different names and different faces.
