Columbus State boys basketball to hold youth camp
The Columbus State boys basketball program will host a boys basketball camp from 9:00 a.m. to noon June 5 through June 9. The camp is for boys ages 6 to 16 at a cost of $125 and will be held in the Lumpkin Center.
Cougars head coach Robert Moore said the camp will be conducted by the Columbus State coaching staff and players. Fresh off his sixth season as CSU head coach, Moore said the opportunity can be beneficial for the development of young players.
“I think a summer basketball camp is for the kids to really work on their fundamentals of the game like passing, dribbling, and shooting,” Moore said. “The better their fundamentals are, the more likely they will be able to play in middle school or high school.”
The Cougars posted a 20-10 record in the 2016-2017 season. They made the Division II NCAA Tournament as a No. 4 seed before losing in the first round to Augusta.
Those interested in registering for the camp can visit Columbus State’s website or call 706-507-8070. For more information on the camps, call 706-568-2447.
