On Wednesday, the Philadelphia Eagles released former Hardaway standout and first-round pick Marcus Smith.

Smith, a 6-foot-3, 251-pound defensive end, totaled 12 tackles and four sacks in 37 games over three seasons. He was the 26th pick in the 2014 draft out of Louisville.

He did not attend organized team activities this offseason.

Smith was 2009 AAAA All-Region Second Team as a quarterback at Hardaway before moving to defense in college. He was a third-team AP All-American, All-AAC and conference Defensive Player of the Year as a senior at Louisville in 2013. That year, he totaled 42 tackles and 14. 5 sacks.
