Central High football players sign with college programs on National Signing Day

Seven student athletes at Central High School in Phenix City, Alabama took part in the school’s national signing day ceremony Wednesday morning inside the school’s practice facility.

“What a great day to celebrate years of work that these guys, and these parents, extended families, coaches have put into this,” said Patrick Nix, the school’s head football coach.

Nix credited and thanked the players for their work both in the classroom and on the field. He said most people see only ten percent of the players put in to being successful.

“It’s the 90% that’s under the water that nobody gets to see that’s given you the opportunity to go on and extend your college career, education, and your football career,” Nix said.

The football players signing letters of intent were: Makhi Gilbert (Samford University), Tommy Griffin (Point University), Jordan Moultrie (University of West Alabama), Caleb Nix (Clemson University), Marquevious Terry (Iowa Western Community College), Damion Tharp (Coffeyville Community College), and Nazier Walton (Tuskegee University). Sterlin Harris (Iowa Wesleyan University) was listed as a signee on the program but was not at the ceremony.
