With head coach Tiffany Tootle still on paid administrative leave, assistant Brad Huskisson will coach Columbus State’s softball team when it returns to the field Saturday against Armstrong Atlantic.
CSU athletic director Herbert Greene dismissed recent rumors that Tootle has been fired. He said she will remain on leave and Huskisson and former Lady Cougars pitcher Randi Rainwater will coach the team until his investigation of the matter concludes.
He informed the team of his decision on Monday.
“Until we make a decision on exactly what we want to do, I want to do exactly what we feel is right for everybody,” Greene said.

Tootle has been on leave for the last week for unspecified reasons. She was also placed on leave in the fall following a dispute within the coaching staff.
Greene said the ninth-year CSU coach continues to fulfill her duties as an instructor on campus.
“It’s tough on everybody. It’s tough on Tiffany, it’s tough on me, it’s tough on Brad and the team and the administration,” Greene said. “It’s been tough on all of us.”
CSU (13-12) has not played since splitting a doubleheader against North Georgia on March 11.
