Northern 9-10s, 10-11s win district crowns

The Northern Little League All-Star program had a very good day on Thursday, wrapping up District 8 baseball titles in two age divisions.

The Northern 9-10s beat Harris County 17-9 to wrap up its championship. The Northern 10-11s topped American 7-3 to win their title.

In other action from Thursday, Northern beat Peach 8-6 in 11-12 baseball to advance to tonight's title game with American. Northern has to beat American twice to take the district title. No other details on this contest were made available at press time.

In Phenix City, Phenix City American beat Phenix City National 8-2 in the Alabama District 4 championship series at Idle Hour Park. American's win forces a deciding game tonight at 7.

MINOR BASEBALLNORTHERN 17, HARRIS COUNTY 9

Zac Shellnut struck out three and earned the win for Northern in the title game.

Huston Boyd was 3-for-4, R.J. Brown was 2-for-4 and Kyle Lutz was 2-for-5 with a home run for Northern. Taquon Marshall batted 3-for-4 and Casey Cobb was 2-for-4 for Harris County.

10-11 BASEBALLNORTHERN 7, AMERICAN 3

Mike Rossi struck out eight batters and had two hits to earn the win and help Northern take the district title.

Robin Geven hit a home run while Matt Jones, Will Kilgore and Harrison Kurk each had three hits to pace Northern.

Cole Obert hit a solo home run while Rick Farr and Cameron Hopkins each added a hit for American.

ALABAMA DISTRICT 4 BASEBALL FINALSPHENIX CITY AMERICAN 8, PHENIX CITY NATIONAL 2

A.J. Allen got the win and picked up a hit for American in its victory.

Anthony Spivey hit a home run while Taylor Mitchell and Tyler Lynn each added a hit for American. Cole Jackson hit a home run for National.

The winner of tonight's game advances to the state tournament in Mobile, Ala.
