Report: Chicago Cubs sign Edwin Jackson to 4-year, $52-million deal

Former Shaw star Edwin Jackson has signed a four-year, $52-million contract with the Chicago Cubs, according to a tweet from CSN Chicago reporter Patrick Mooney.

The deal is tentative, pending Jackson passing a physical.

Jackson has been in the Major Leagues 10 seasons and has compiled a 70-71 record with a 4.40 ERA.

Last season with the Washington Nationals, the right-hander went 10-11 with a 4.03 ERA.

Jackson was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers out of Shaw High after the 2001 season, during which he helped the Raiders win the Class AAAA state championship.

He made his MLB debut in 2003 on his 20th birthday against the Arizona Diamondbacks and Randy Johnson.
