Northern 10-11 all-stars beat Virginia for title in Tournament of State Champions
GREENVILLE, N.C. -- The Northern Little League 10-11 all-stars battled back from a five-run deficit to beat Virginia 15-5 on Wednesday to win the title in the Tournament of State Champions.
Northern scored three runs in the second inning, then added six in the third inning and six more in the fifth. The game ended with one out in the fifth due to the mercy rule.
Trey Sanders earned the win on the mound for Northern. He went 4 1-3 innings. Tripp Duncan recorded the final two outs.
Dell Davis and Ashton Shackleford both had three hits. Davis added a RBI. Shackleford drove in a pair of runs in the fifth.
Sanders and Connor Trepanier also drove in two runs apiece. Josh Davis, Buddy Denson, Charlie Forbes and Duncan also drove in single runs.
Tucker Kite, Avery Robinson and Sanders had two hits apiece. Jackson Hilton had a hit in two at-bats.
Dell Davis, Sanders, Shackleford and Denson scored two runs apiece. Josh Davis, Cameron Dodson, Robinson, Trepanier, Kite, Duncan and Forbes scored one run apiece.
Justin Veloz and Sean Lawson also played.
