WNBA Fans Call Out People Magazine For DiJonai Carrington Headline
People Magazine is facing a ton of backlash this weekend from WNBA fans around the country.
In honor of the 2026 season kicking off, People Magazine highlighted three couples in the WNBA. Their story highlighted Paige Buckers and Azzi Fudd, who are currently teammates on the Dallas Wings. A few weeks ago, Kevin Sherrington of The Dallas Morning News tried asking Fudd about their dynamic but he was shut down by a staff member for the Wings.
Bueckers eventually spoke to the media about this subject. She made it clear that she doesn't want to be asked about her personal life during the WNBA season.
"There is something I wanted to address and I only plan on addressing it once," Bueckers said. "I believe me and Azzi's personal relationship is nobody's business but our own, and what we choose to share is completely up to us. Me and Azzi have always been the most professional; we've always conducted ourselves as such and we've never let anything that happens off the court carry onto the court."
People Magazine briefly addressed Bueckers and Fudd's romance before shifting focus to Alyssa Thomas and DeWanna Bonner.
Natasha Cloud and Izzy Harrison were the last couple mentioned in this article. People Magazine's social media post, however, mentioned Dijonai Carrington and Nalyssa Smith.
There's just one issue: Carrington and Smith are no longer together.
WNBA fans rush to defend DiJonai.
"Nalyssa and Dijonai are not pictured, not in your story, and not together," one fan wrote. "Fix your caption."
"This why y'all need to stay out them people's business and focus on the game," a second fan fired back.
"Not them thinking Dijonai is still dating that girl," another fan replied.
"NaLyssa and Dijonai?!?! They are not together anymore like please delete this," a social media user said.
Carrington confirmed in the fall that she's no longer with Smith. She said on social media that she "permanently closed" that chapter of her life.
As of this moment, Carrington hasn't responded to People Magazine's misleading post.
