Rare Victor Wembanyama Card Sells For Record $5.11 Million: Report

San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama is 1 of 1 - a 7-foot-4 Frenchman who, at 22, already has the NBA‘s first-ever unanimous Defensive Player of the Year award to his name.

So, it’s not the least bit surprising that a Wembanyama 1 of 1 card just sold for a record price.

“Victor Wembanyama’s 1-of-1 numbered 2023-24 Panini Prizm Black parallel has sold for $5.11 million in a private sale via Fanatics Collect, Fanatics confirmed to ESPN,” Dan Hajducky reported Tuesday. “It’s by far the most ever spent on a Wembanyama card, and the fourth and 11th most spent on a basketball and a sports card, respectively.”

Hajducky added, “It’s also the most expensive known sale of a non-autographed NBA card and the third sports card sold for $5 million in 2026. The previous most ever spent on a Wembanyama card was $860,100 in a February 2025 Goldin auction, on a different 1-of-1 numbered parallel from the same Prizm set.”

Wembanyama’s memorabilia multiplying by roughly sixfold in 15 months matches his on-court trajectory this season.

Along with his first Defensive Player of the Year award, Wembanyama earned his first unanimous All-Defensive First Team selection and first career All-NBA First Team selection. The 2023 No. 1 overall pick led the Spurs to a 62-20 regular-season record, second only to the reigning champion Oklahoma City Thunder (64-18), and to their first playoff berth since the 2018-19 season.

Now, the Spurs are locked at 2-2 with the Thunder in the Western Conference Finals. Wembanyama is averaging 30.3 points (on 52.6% shooting from the field), 13.3 rebounds, 4.3 assists, 3.0 blocks, and 1.3 steals through the first four games of the series.
