Terrell Owens Calls Out Boomer Esiason For 'Bonehead' Rant About Jaxson Dart
Former NFL star Boomer Esiason felt the need to share his two cents on the recent drama involving New York Giants teammates Abdul Carter and Jaxson Dart.
Dart made headlines last Friday for introducing President Donald Trump at a rally in Suffern, New York. He called it an honor and privilege to kick off the president's event at Rockland Community College.
Less than 24 hours after Dart showed up to this rally, Carter expressed his displeasure on social media by posting this message: "Thought this s- was AI, what we doing man." The former No. 3 overall pick later said he and Dart settled their differences over the phone.
During this Tuesday's episode of "Boomer & Gio" on WFAN, Esiason ripped Carter for throwing his quarterback under the bus.
"This was a real error on the part of Abdul Carter. Not on the part of Jaxson Dart," the former NFL quarterback said. "Jaxson Dart was asked to do something. To introduce the President of the United States. How many people get an opportunity to do something like that? Regardless of who the president is. You might've hated Barack Obama. You might've hated Joe Biden. And some guys didn't want to go to the White House because they didn't like those presidents, just like other guys didn't want to go because they didn't like President Trump. To put this out like a child on social media is ridiculous. And then when I heard, ‘Yeah, we spoke man to man.' Yeah, there was only one man on that call, and that was Jaxson Dart."
Those remarks from Esiason received plenty of pushback from the NFL community, including Hall of Fame wide receiver Terrell Owens.
"You're a bonehead," Owens wrote on social media. "So him being late to meetings make him not a man. Stop! Everyone has been late. So what?!! You were a high draft pick, I'm sure there are that say you didn't live up to your draft status!! You must be a Trumper too."
NFL fans believe Esiason made a fool out of himself by strictly placing the blame on Carter.
"Boomer did NOT torch Abdul… What Boomer did was make a fool of himself and reveal his own poor character," one person said.
"Boomer becoming a stain on the Bengals for me," a fan wrote. "Dude is literally out of touch like his namesake."
"Weren't these guys the ones who told us don't mix politics and sports. Suddenly, they have no problem with Dart being political," another fan commented.
Boomer Esiason was singing a different tune in April.
Nearly two months before Dart showed up to Trump's event, Esiason issued a warning to the young quarterback.
"It's time for Jaxson Dart to get serious," Esiason said. "If you think about the amount of money he has the potential to make, these next two years can set him up for life. This is not hyperbole, it's not a joke, you can see him as a $70 million quarterback in New York."
Apparently, last Friday's situation doesn't change the way Esiason views Dart. As for Carter, we'll just have to wait and see if he fires back at Esiason.
