FOX's No. 2 Broadcaster Greg Olsen Defeats Tom Brady To Win Sports Emmy

Greg Olsen is technically listed as FOX's No. 2 analyst for its NFL coverage, but make no mistake, he's capable of leading a commentary crew.

Prior to the start of the 2022 season, FOX promoted Olsen to its No. 1 broadcast crew. He called Super Bowl LVII alongside play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt. Unfortunately for the former Pro Bowl tight end, he was demoted to the No. 2 team once Tom Brady officially joined FOX in 2024.

After Olsen lost his spot with the No. 1 crew to Brady, he made it clear there's zero animosity between them.

"There's this idea that there's this personal animosity and competition. There's not," Olsen said. "My relationship with Tom and Fox and Joe Davis and Burkhardt and all my people at Fox couldn't be better. On the other parallel line to that, yes, I want to ascend in the industry, and I'm sure Joe Davis wants to call Super Bowls as well, that doesn't mean he doesn't like Burkhardt. Any motivated guy, you want to be the best at what you do. That is not a knock on the people that are ahead of you."

Although he won't reclaim his spot with FOX's No. 1 crew, Olsen defeated Brady in a key category Tuesday night.

Olsen, who is still with FOX at the moment, received the Sports Emmy for "Outstanding Personality – Event Analyst."

What's next for Greg Olsen?

A departure isn't imminent at this time, but Olsen has made it known that he'd love to call the top NFL games every Sunday.

"I still seek to go out and reach the highest levels of this profession and in no means does that mean that I want it to be at the expense of Tom [Brady]. And Tom wants to continue to ascend and achieve everything he wants, that doesn't have to come at the expense of me," Olsen said. "My success is not contingent on Tom's failure, and vice versa. I'm thankful for FOX, they believed in me… I want to be very crystal clear. Do I want to call top games? Of course. We all have aspirations to be as good as we possibly can, or else we're wasting our time."

It wouldn't shock us if another network makes a run at Olsen in the coming years.
