Broncos Star Jonathan Cooper Arrested On Domestic Violence Charge
The Denver Broncos learned Thursday night that star pass rusher Jonathan Cooper was arrested in Colorado.
According to TMZ Sports, Cooper is being held behind bars for two counts of domestic violence and one count of criminal mischief. The details regarding his arrest are limited at this time.
"The 28-year-old was booked into a detention facility at 2:38 AM," the report from TMZ states. "JC is scheduled to go before a judge this morning ... and he's got another hearing set for Monday."
The Broncos have not yet released a statement on Cooper's arrest.
Denver's defense has been anchored by Jonathon Cooper.
Cooper, 28, has been a standout for the Broncos since going pro in 2021. He currently has 266 career tackles, 63 QB hits, 31.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
As for Cooper's future in Denver, he's under contract through the 2028 season. The Broncos saved $8.2 million in cap space this offseason by converting a significant amount of his base salary into a signing bonus.
It's too early to tell if Cooper will miss time this upcoming NFL season.
