World Cup Fans Confused By Tate McRae's Appearance At Belgium vs. Spain
Pop singer Tate McRae turned plenty of heads during this Friday's World Cup quarterfinal between Belgium and Spain.
McRae, who released her debut studio album in 2022, became a star in 2024 after her single "Greedy" became a viral sensation. As for her involvement in the world of sports, she made headlines earlier this year due to her relationship with NHL star Jack Hughes.
"Tate and Jack are dating," a source told Us Weekly. "They started casually seeing each other late last year, so it's still new, but they are exclusively seeing each other."
While we're not sure if McRae is a huge soccer fan, she had the honor of presenting the Adidas Trionda match ball at SoFi Stadium.
Unsurprisingly, McRae's appearance at the Belgium-Spain match caused quite the stir.
"I thought I was seeing things," one fan wrote on X.
"Canada recently played in LA but she couldn't come out and deliver the ball then it's so random for a Spain and Belgium game lol," a second fan commented. "She sold herself to America."
"This is so random," another fan declared.
Tate McRae witnessed a nail-biter.
During the 88th minute of action, Pau Cubarsí ripped a shot from outside the box that took an odd deflection off Belgium goalkeeper Senne Lammens. That gave Mikel Merino the chance to smash the ball into the back of the net, which is exactly what he did.
That right there was all Spain needed to secure a 2-1 win and secure a spot in the semifinals against France.
France and Spain will square off this upcoming Tuesday.
