Potential Of Life In Prison Not Slowing CB Terrion Arnold

In June, NFL cornerback Terrion Arnold turned himself in to police following an arrest for felony charges, including kidnapping and armed robbery, from an incident in Tampa, Fla. In February.

Arnold posted a $1 million bond and faces the potential for a lengthy prison sentence, including the possibility of life. The Detroit Lions released the 23-year-old Arnold on June 29.

But this is the NFL, and it's full of instances in which teams develop amnesia from off-the-field actions if it could result in more wins in the standings.

A Florida judge on July 10, 2026, denied prosecutors' request for a GPS ankle monitor, ruling that the change in his employment status (no longer with the Lions) did not warrant tighter restrictions.

This decision is critical: it allows Arnold to travel for NFL workouts without an electronic tether that his agent argued would make employment "extremely difficult and maybe even impossible."

He cleared waivers on July 6 and is now an unrestricted free agent.

So of course, his status as a two-year starting CB is in high demand. Despite the legal cloud and the possibility of landing on the NFL's Commissioner's Exempt List (which would bar him from practicing or playing), teams came calling as soon as he became officially available.

Arnold's agent, Nicole Lynn, testified in court that four teams inquired within 24 hours of his release. Those teams were the New York Jets, Seattle Seahawks, Houston Texans and Indianapolis Colts.

He's already had a workout and physical with the Texans, and Lynn said another unspecified team has a scheduled workout as well. She fully expects he'll sign before Week 1.

More From Lindy's Sports:

Arnold suffered a late-season shoulder injury in 2025, but evaluators believe there's a high upside in the 6-foot, 195-pound physical press corner out of Alabama who started in 22 of his 24 NFL games.

Whether he will play in 2026 remains to be seen.

Court proceedings could drag into the season, potentially keeping him off the field in 2026 even if signed. Yet the flurry of team contacts and active workouts shows that organizations still believe in his football ability enough to take a calculated risk.
