Closer look at Thursday's high school football games

NORTHSIDE VS., KENDRICK

Where: Kinnett Stadium

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.

Records: Northside 0-0 (4-7 last season). Kendrick 1-0.

Series: Kendrick leads 4-3, including a 16-14 win last season.

Last week: Season-opener for Northside. Kendrick beat Stewart County 31-0.

You need to know: Northside is 6-15 in two seasons under Morgan Ingram, who led the Patriots to the Class AAAAA state playoffs a season ago. The Patriots have 16 starters returning from a year ago, including quarterback Levin Dunn and running back Kalan Watts. Kendrick won its first game of the Cedric ware era last week against Stewart County. The Kendrick defense scored a touchdown and two safeties. William Walker, Walter Boze and Keshon Willis scored rushing TDs for the Cherokees.

HARDAWAY VS. CHATTAHOOCHEE COUNTY

Where: A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium

When: Thursday, 7 p.m.

Records: Hardaway 0-1. Chattahoochee County 0-0 (4-7 last season).

Series: Chattahoochee County leads 1-0 with a 22-19 victory in Cusseta last season.

Last week: Hardaway lost 47-21 to Tri-Cities. Season-opener for Chattahoochee County.

You need to know: Kareen Wilson rushed for 127 yards on six carries to lead Hardaway, which rushed for a team total of 298 yards. Chattahoochee County is led by quarterback C.J. Afoa, who threw for more than 3,000 yards and 33 TDs last season.
