Four-star running back Elijah Holyfield gives commitment to Georgia

Georgia continued its moniker of being Running Back U.

On Friday, the Bulldogs received a verbal commitment from Woodward Academy running back Elijah Holyfield, a consensus four-star recruit by Scout.com, 247Sports.com and Rivals.com.

Holyfield picked Georgia over Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee and South Carolina. He becomes the next in line of a string of top running back recruits Georgia has secured over the years, including Todd Gurley, Keith Marshall, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel.

Before announcing his decision, which was at his high school's gymnasium, Holyfield said he needed to bring in two friends to help him make it. From there, he brought in two bulldog puppies and said he was committed to Georgia.

Last year, Holyfield carried the ball 264 times for 1,735 yards and 25 touchdowns.

Holyfield is the son of former boxing champion Evander Holyfield.
