Tuskegee-Morehouse notes: Kevin Lacey gets much needed rest
Junior Tuskegee quarterback Kevin Lacey got some extra rest after the Golden Tigers broke the game against Morehouse on Saturday with 28 points in just more than a quarter.
Lacey, who has started all six games this year and 15 over the past two seasons, exited the game after Tuskegee made it 28-0 with 13:26 remaining in the first half.
Lacey return to the field after halftime and played the entirety of the third quarter and also the first drive of the fourth quarter.
Backup Nicholas Pope took the snaps while Lacey was on the sideline completing 5-of-8 for 49 yards.
Norfleet returns
After missing the past two games with an injury, senior running back Dennis Norfleet returned for Tuskegee on Saturday.
A transfer from the University of Michigan, Norfleet's first touch of the day was a 36-yard punt return.
He ended the day with five rushes for 22 yards and also scored a touchdown.
Targeting call reversed
Just four minutes into the game, Morehouse senior defensive back Raynard Ware was called for targeting.
The penalty helped extend Tuskegee's first scoring drive after the play gave the Golden Tigers an automatic first down. Later in the first quarter, the play was reviewed and Ware was allowed to return to the field.
In the fourth quarter, Ware made a big play in the game intercepting Lacey for his first pick of the season.
Special teams differential
Similar to the score, there was a big differential in each team's special teams performance.
Morehouse had punts for distances of 18 yards and 10-yards in the first half while Tuskegee downed a punt inside the Morehouse's five during the first quarter.
Also, Tuskegee kicker Kemuel Lawrence was also perfect for Tuskegee in extra points going 5-for-5 while also having two touchbacks.
Morehouse Breaks Scoring Streak
With Kivon Taylor's 42-yard touchdown pass to Amry Smith late in the third quarter, Morehouse broke a long scoreless streak against Tuskegee. It was the Maroon Tiger's first score of any kind in the Classic since 2013. The span stretched over 113 minutes of game time.

Late in the second quarter, Tuskegee freshman defensive back DeMarcus Morgan was ejected for throwing a punch after a kickoff return. Throughout the game, there were eight personal foul penalties called, including four in the fourth quarter. Overall, the two teams combined for 20 flags racking up 199 yards worth of penalties. After the game, Tuskegee senior linebacker Jewell Ratliff and Morehouse sophomore defensive back James Woods were named the MVP's for their teams. Ratliff had 12 total tackles, including a sack and two tackles for a loss. Woods had 11 tackles for the Maroon Tigers.
