Former Columbus High standout JT Phillips earns Peach Belt honors

Armstrong State's JT Phillips was named the Peach Belt Conference Pitcher of the Week, it was announced Tuesday.

The former Columbus High standout pitched seven innings and allowed just one hit in a 6-1 win over Tusculum on Saturday. The right-hander, who is 2-0, struck out 13 and walked three. The hit he allowed came in the seventh inning and snapped a string of 10 1-3 innings of hitless ball.

Phillips is the only pitcher in the PBC with 10 or more innings and a 0.00 ERA.

Phillips was also the DH in all three games against Tusculum. He hit .462 with a double and three runs scored. In four games this season, Phillips is batting .563 with two doubles and two RBIs.
