Craport leads Georgia Tech to win over Purdue

ATLANTA -- Trevor Craport went 3-for-3 and hit a homer as Georgia Tech opened its season with a 5-2 win over Purdue on Friday at Russ Chandler Stadium.

Craport's homer came in the sixth inning to put the Jackets up for good. The Jackets added a pair of unearned runs in the eighth.

Tech starter Brandon Gold pitched five innings and struck out eight. Reliever Burton Dulaney earned the win with a pair of scoreless innings.

The Jackets host Western Michigan at 2 p.m. Saturday.
