College baseball roundup: Nettles, Peals lead CSU to win
Matt Nettles went 2-for-5 and drove in four runs as Columbus State routed Tuskegee 17-1 on Wednesday afternoon.
Matt McClellan and Ryan Ihle drove in two runs apiece.
Kyle Peals (1-0) picked up the win. He allowed one run on two hits in six innings.
The Cougars (17-4) have won five straight. They host Georgia College to start a Peach Belt Conference series on Friday at 4 p.m. The teams will play Saturday at 1 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
GEORGIA 6, CHARLOTTE 3
Freshman Kevin Smith pitched 7 2/3 innings and allowed three runs on six hits for his second career win as Georgia beat Charlotte 6-3 on Wednesday at Charlotte, N.C.
The win gave the Bulldogs a split in the two-game series.
Georgia (9-5) scored two runs on a bases-loaded error in the third inning. A third run scored on a hit-by-pitch.

AUBURN 1
Joey Bart knocked in three runs to Georgia Tech to a 4-1 win over Auburn at Plainsman Park on Tuesday at Auburn, Ala.
Cole Pitts (1-0) gave up one run on three hits with four strikeouts in five innings. It was his first win in more than two years.
Georgia Tech is 12-0, its longest winning streak since 2011 when it won 16 straight.
Auburn’s Anfernee Grier (Russell County) extended his hitting streak to 14 games. He had one of Auburn’s four hits. Grier also stole two bases and scored a run.
CHARLOTTE 10, GEORGIA 5
Logan Sherrer hit a homer and drove in four runs to lead Charlotte to a 10-5 victory over Georgia on Tuesday at Charlotte, N.C.
Michael Curry hit a homer and drove in three runs for Georgia.
Blakely Brown (1-1) suffered the loss for Georgia. He gave up four runs on one-third of an inning.
