CVCC moves into ACCC championship game with win over Wallace State-Dothan

. The Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball team is one win away from a third straight trip to the JUCO world series.

The Pirates (48-10) crushed Wallace State-Dothan 11-0 on Monday night. The game was stopped after the fifth inning due to the mercy rule.

CVCC, which has won 16 straight, will face either Calhoun or Wallace State-Dothan in the championship game at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday. Those two teams play in an elimination game at 1 p.m. Tuesday.

The winner will have to beat CVCC twice. A second game would be played Wednesday.

In Monday’s win, CVCC scored six runs in the third inning and five in the fourth.

Carson Hughes had a two-run single and AJ Willoughby knocked in another in the third. Frank Wager hit a three-run homer to cap off the inning.

In the fourth, two runs scored on walks, one scored on a passed ball, one scored on a single and another scored on a hit-batter.

Wager finished 3-for-3 and four RBIs. Hughes went 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.
