Northern 9-10 team wins elimination game

The Northern Little League 9-10 baseball all-stars beat Washington-Wilkes 16-1 on Wednesday night at East Marietta.

Akhil Gutta hit two home runs and a double and drove in six runs.

Walker Hilton had a pair hits and drove in four runs.

Northern were scheduled to play either Oconee County or Warner Robins late Wednesday.

Western 14, Pioneer 4

The Pioneer Little League 9-10 softball all-stars fell 14-4 to Western in the state championship game at Cartersville on Wednesday night.

Morgan Curenton had a pair of hits and drove in two runs. McKenzie Hale and Trinity Certain also drove in runs.

Late Tuesday

Northern 8, Dudley 1

The Northern Little League 10-11 baseball all-stars beat Dudley 8-1 on Tuesday night at Sally Little League.

Ryan Grantham picked up the win. Colton Masse went 3-for-3 with tow RBIs.

Dylan Presley, Joey Walter, Cole Thompson and Grantham all had RBIs.

With the win, Northern advanced to Thursday night’s state championship game.

Dudley and Cartersville played Wednesday night. The winner will play Northern for the title.

Pioneer 12, Franklin 1

The Pioneer Little League 9-10 softball all-stars beat Franklin County 12-1 on Tuesday at Cartersville, Ga.

McKenzie Hale and Madisyn McCool both hit home runs.

Savanna Bedell, Kaci Horton and Hale had three hits apiece. Autumn Bedsole and McCool had three RBIs apiece.

With the win, Pioneer advanced to Wednesday night’s state title game against Western Little League. Pioneer needs to beat Western twice to earn the championship.
